Jagran correspondent, Noida. Polio eradication campaign started in Gautam Buddha Nagar on Sunday. On the first day, polio vaccine was administered to 106024 children at 1042 polio booths in various areas of Noida and Greater Noida. The CMO said that from today, health workers will go door-to-door and administer polio drops to children aged between newborn and five years and will achieve the target of Rs 4.55 lakh. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Narendra Kumar said that India has been declared a polio free country. According to the guidelines of the World Health Organization, as long as polio cases continue to be reported in neighboring countries, the polio eradication campaign will continue in India, in such a situation, it is very important to give polio doses to children on time.
Polio is a serious disease, which can cripple children for life. The disease can be prevented by regular vaccination and administering polio drops. District Immunization Officer Dr. Ravindra Kumar Siroha said that polio infection spreads rapidly and affects the nervous system of children.
Deputy CMO Dr. Ubaid Qureshi said that every dose of polio is necessary for the bright and healthy future of the child. Appealed to compulsorily administer polio drops to all children aged zero to five years. From today Monday to December 20, health department teams will go door-to-door to administer polio drops to 4.55 lakh children.
