State Bureau, New Delhi. The Public Works Department (PWD) under the Delhi government, whose own roads are also plagued by dust, will now survey the DDA roads to identify pollution-related activities in dusty areas or vacant plots that need to be stopped.

The department will prepare a report and submit it to the Chief Minister soon. Based on this report, DDA will take pollution control measures on these roads as per the instructions of the government. This survey will be conducted under the order of the Chief Minister issued on Wednesday.

In a meeting held by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday on pollution, various agencies including the Public Works Department, Delhi Municipal Corporation and New Delhi Municipal Council were strongly reprimanded for being ineffective in controlling pollution. DDA officials claimed that the situation regarding pollution control is better in their jurisdiction, although government sources do not agree with this.

Delhi government sources say that everyone needs to contribute at the grassroots level to control pollution. The Chief Minister has even directed that if there is any problem or difficulty, then instead of giving a superficial report, they should be informed about it, so that the problem can be solved. If agencies are spreading pollution by digging roads illegally, then action should be taken against them. Apart from issuing challan, FIR should also be registered against them.

Note that Delhi Development Authority is one of the 19 agencies that have been directed by the Central Government to work to reduce pollution.

According to Delhi government sources, DDA is not taking pollution as seriously as it should. Many roads in Dwarka belong to DDA, whose maintenance is their responsibility. Pollution related activities are going on in many vacant plots under the jurisdiction of DDA in outer and west Delhi, with debris being dumped in some areas and garbage being dumped at other places.
