Jagran correspondent, Agra. Consumers whose smart meters have already been installed or will be installed in the future. It will be prepaid. The era of sending bills will gradually go away after a few months. Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (DVVNL) has about five lakh consumers in the district. Out of which smart meters have been installed in about 1.30 lakh places. Like a mobile, the smart meter will now have to be recharged. This will provide relief to consumers from complaints of high bills or irregularities.

Smart meters have been installed at 1.30 lakh consumers, no bill will come

DVVNL has five lakh consumers in the district. In which, for the first time, installation of smart meters started at the homes of consumers in urban and town areas. After this, installation of smart meters has started in the villages near the city. When the installation of smart meters started, these meters were postpaid only. Now these have been changed. All the meters that will be installed now, including those that have already been installed, will be prepaid smart meters only.

Although there was opposition to it in the initial phase, it did not make any difference. Those who already had meters installed, smart meters have been installed free of cost. It is mandatory that smart meters are to be installed at everyone's place.

Smart meter will be installed with new connection

Those who have applied for new connection. Only prepaid smart meter will be installed at their place, not postpaid. The cost of which will have to be deposited Rs 2800.
