'Government Waiting For The Accident?' MLA Maithili Thakur Asked Questions To Her Own Government...Questions Raised On The Minister's Answer

BJP's new MLA Maithili Thakur asked questions to her own government

Digital Desk, Patna. The poor condition of government hospitals once again came into focus during the budget session of Bihar Assembly on Monday. This time the question was not asked by the opposition, but by the ruling party BJP's new MLA Maithili Thakur to her own government. The issue was the dilapidated condition of the government hospital in his area and the government's alleged indifference towards it.

Not a question, a warning tone

The manner in which Maithili Thakur described the condition of the hospital during the question hour, did not seem like a mere complaint but a warning. Plaster falling from the ceiling, deep cracks in the walls and water dripping during the rainy season - treating pregnant women and children in these conditions, he directly described as 'playing with life'.

The budget kept increasing, the buildings kept falling?

The MLA raised a sarcastic question as to why the hospital buildings are becoming more dilapidated when the health budget is increasing every year. There is a shortage of doctors and medicines, but if the building itself collapses then what is the use of treatment - this question kept echoing in the House.

Minister's reply and allegation of dissatisfaction

Health Minister Mangal Pandey, in response, said that the government is serious, dilapidated buildings have been identified and repair and reconstruction will be done in a phased manner. But Maithili Thakur immediately hit back and said, 'I am not satisfied with this answer.' He alleged that the hospital in his area has been in the list for years, but nothing has changed on the ground.

‘Explain Again’ and discomfort within power

The MLA's saying 'Explain once again' was not just a technical objection, but a direct question on the system. He said that there is neither enough space nor MBBS doctors in the hospital. It was a rare scene in the House when an MLA from her own party put the minister in the dock, due to which the ruling party looked uncomfortable for some time.

Taunt on the tradition of taking action after the accident

Maithili Thakur raised the most sharp question - Is the government waiting for some big accident? This allegation was actually a satire on the administrative culture, where files are often moved only after an accident. The opposition also supported this question by thumping the table.

Viral video and sign of public support

The video of this debate quickly went viral on social media. People are saying in one voice that this issue is not just of one area, but of entire Bihar. Government hospital buildings in many districts are in the same condition, but generally this question does not come out of the files.

Suspense continues - will there be action or the same assurance?

Now the big question is whether this debate will be limited to the House only or will the government really wake up before the walls of any hospital collapse. This issue raised in the budget session is both a warning and a test for the government - it remains to be seen whether the answer is found on paper or on the ground.
