Jagran correspondent, Shimla. A case of ragging has come to light in Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla. Taking disciplinary action, the administration has suspended two trainee senior doctors for three months. Along with this, a total fine of ₹ 25 thousand has also been imposed on both of them.
This action has been taken on the recommendation of the disciplinary committee formed after the complaint of ragging by junior doctors.
Junior was called to the hostel against the rules
According to sources, the junior doctors had alleged in the complaint that they were called to the hostel against the rules. The administration got the matter investigated, in which it came to light that rules related to hostels had been violated. The investigation found that unless junior doctors are formally allotted a hostel, it is against the rules to call them to the hostel.

The disciplinary committee, after reviewing all the aspects, did not consider it a case of serious ragging and declared it a disciplinary violation. On this basis, it was decided to suspend both the trainee senior doctors for three months and impose a fine of ₹ 25 thousand.
What do the members of the disciplinary committee say?
A member of the IGMC disciplinary committee said that the case fell under the category of ragging, but its nature was not found to be serious. Also, both the doctors have been warned that if such incident is repeated in future, more strict action will be taken against them.
Indiscipline will not be tolerated
The administration has clarified that strict adherence to hostel rules will be ensured and indiscipline will not be tolerated at any level.
