Jagran correspondent, West Delhi. Two days have passed since the rains stopped in Delhi, but the situation still remains the same on the main road leading from Dwarka Metro Station to Sector-14. Due to no drainage system on the road, dirty rain water has accumulated, which has turned the entire road into a pond. Half-feet deep potholes amid waterlogging are proving dangerous for pedestrians and drivers.

There is also Government Sarvodaya Vidyalaya situated on the same road, where hundreds of children studying have to somehow wade through knee-deep water and mud at many places. For the residents of the densely populated colony like Hari Vihar located on the side of this road, this is their main route; they are forced to travel to their homes through this route.

The situation is such that hundreds of local residents of the area and small children studying in government schools are having to bear the brunt of the negligence of the administration. Pedestrians have no alternative route, hence they have to wade through this contaminated water.

This road becomes more dangerous after sunset, due to the absence of street lights on this route. There are pits already filled with water, traveling through them in the dark is like traveling with one's life at risk.

Local people and regular commuters say that street lights on the main road remain switched off. Potholes filled with water are not visible in the dense darkness of the night, due to which bikers and cyclists are falling victim to accidents every day. According to local people, due to lack of lighting this road has now become a hotspot of accidents.

Even after two days there is water accumulation on the road. Due to drainage failure, potholes have become deadly, the administration is playing with the safety of children. - Indrajit, local resident.
