Masoom Ahmed, Hazaribagh. The skill development and financial inclusion programs of the government are bringing positive changes in the lives of the youth. Through these schemes, financial, technical and market related assistance is being provided to the youth who want to start self-employment by linking them with nationalized banks, so that they can establish sustainable livelihood.

Micro Enterprise Promotion Program (MEPP) is being successfully run in Hazaribagh district by Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK) in collaboration with Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI). Under this program, many youth are not only increasing their income by becoming self-reliant entrepreneurs but are also providing employment to others. In this episode, today we are talking about two youth of Hazaribagh who changed their fortunes through skill development and financial inclusion. It was once difficult for him to earn his living but today he is providing employment to others.

The early life of Saurabh Kumar, resident of Indrapuri Chowk of the city, was full of difficulties. But skill development and financial inclusion changed his life. Saurabh received capital assistance from Union Bank, Pelawal branch under the PMFME scheme, which consists of 35 percent subsidy. With this cooperation he expanded his spice business.

He established his Zaika Masala Store near Indrapuri Chowk of the city. With the help of modern machines, they are processing and packaging high quality spices and supplying them in the local market and enhancing the taste of people's food. Not only has he become self-reliant, he is also providing employment to three more people.

Similarly, Mukesh Saav, a resident of Banha village, was earlier working as a small mechanic. It was difficult to survive. He has received financial assistance including 35 percent grant from State Bank of India, Demotand branch under PMEGP scheme and is now providing modern services like availability of spare parts, ramp, washing facility. He has also employed an assistant.

In the last two years, NBJK has supported more than 230 youth of Hazaribagh district to become self-reliant entrepreneurs by connecting them with bank loans through SIDBI-MEPP programme.

PMFME is a scheme of the Central Government in which the government gives loans under this scheme to those who want to set up their units in the field of food processing. In this, everyone gets 35 percent subsidy on the machine. Its main objective is to promote product processing in food under Vocal for Local and also to promote marketing by packing food items.

Whereas Chief Minister Small and Cottage Enterprises Development Board is the implementing agency in PMFME scheme in Jharkhand.
