Municipal Corporation strict on encroachment in Kanke Dam catchment area
Jagran correspondent, Ranchi. Ranchi Municipal Corporation has adopted a strict stance regarding the conservation and promotion of the city's reservoirs. In the same sequence, on Friday, the joint team of the Municipal Corporation under the leadership of Additional Administrator Sanjay Kumar inspected the site of the catchment area of Kanke Dam under Ward No. 1. This inspection was conducted in the area located on the road side opposite to the CMPDI main gate.
During the inspection, the Municipal Corporation team found that a total of nine buildings had been constructed illegally in the catchment area of Kanke Dam. All these illegal structures were identified by the Corporation. The Additional Administrator directed the concerned officers to issue notices to the people living in these buildings and give them an opportunity to present their views. Through the notice, the concerned people will be asked to present all their valid documents before the Municipal Corporation.
Additional Administrator Sanjay Kumar clarified that after due scrutiny of the documents presented, if the construction is found to be illegal, then the concerned persons will be automatically instructed to vacate the building. Along with this, action will be initiated to remove illegally constructed buildings and other structures. Measurement work was also done by the Real Estate Branch of the Municipal Corporation with the aim of clarifying the boundaries of the catchment area and ensuring correct identification of encroachment.
Officials said that further action will be made more effective on the basis of measurements. During the inspection, the Additional Administrator warned in strict words that encroachment in any reservoir area of the city will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Encroachment on water bodies is not only a legal offense but also poses a serious threat to the environmental balance and water sources of the city.
In all such cases, the Municipal Corporation will take action to remove encroachments in a phased manner and strict legal action will be taken against the culprits. City Manager, Real Estate Branch officials and officers and personnel of the enforcement team were present on the spot. The Municipal Corporation has clarified that in future also, such investigation and action will continue for the safety and conservation of the reservoirs.
