Jagran correspondent, Ranchi. Town Hall will now be known as Ravindra Bhawan. The work of Ravindra Bhawan, being built by Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company (JUDCO) on Kachari Road near the Collectorate, is almost completed.
Ten-fifteen more days of work will be left. After this it will be ready for inauguration. Although it was being speculated that the Chief Minister would inaugurate it on the State Foundation Day itself, but it could not happen. It is possible that it may be half-built.
A life-size statue of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore was also installed in the building, but this statue was so ugly that the Banga community here started protesting against it and ultimately the statue of Gurudev had to be removed and till now the statue has not been installed here.
Where the statue was installed, flower pots have now taken its place. However, the special thing about this Ravindra Bhavan is that the plan of Rs 155 crore reached Rs 244 crore and finally went above Rs 292,26,10,809 i.e. two hundred ninety two crore. It is not ready yet.
Neeraj Singh of Highten, the company which is looking after its construction, is also saying the same, it will be inaugurated next year. Urban Development Secretary Sunil Kumar is also not saying anything. However, on December 6, Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar inspected it. It is believed that it will be operated on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model but nothing has been decided yet.
The then President Pranab Mukherjee had laid the foundation stone
In 2017, the foundation stone was laid by the then President Pranab Mukherjee in the government of the then Chief Minister Raghuvar Das. The construction work started in 2017 and was supposed to be completed in two years i.e. by 2019. Later, due to various reasons the work was stopped for two years.
After this, the Council of Ministers approved the revised estimate of Rs 292.26 crore for Ravindra Bhawan. After this the work started. The amount has increased but it is still incomplete. Now waiting for the new year.
There is no such cultural center in the city. Its construction in the middle of the city will accelerate cultural activities. Artists here will also find it easier to organize programs. Parking facility is also available. It will also play an important role in creating the cultural environment of the city. There is an Audrey House, where such a facility is not available. Its second special thing is its location in the middle of the city. Now the identity of the Town Hall also changed.
