A major incident has come to light in Sector-13/17 on Friday morning, where the son of a retired IPS officer committed suicide by shooting himself with his licensed pistol. The incident took place when all the family members had gone out of the house for a morning walk.
During this time, the body of Sandeep Hooda (21), who committed suicide by placing a pistol on his temple, was found in a blood soaked condition in the bathroom. When the maid came home to work in the morning, the incident came to light. The panicked maid immediately called the neighbors and family and informed them about the incident. Within some time the police also reached the spot. The police took the body into custody, conducted post-mortem and handed it over to the relatives.
Investigating officer Sunil Kumar said that retired IPS officer Ram Gobind Hooda is originally a resident of Jasia village in Rohtak district. Since 1980, Pura Ram Gobind was living in Panipat with his wife Darshana Hooda, son Sandeep Hooda, daughter-in-law Rajni and grandson Viren.
The incident took place in house number 620 of Sector-13-17. Recently the family was preparing to shift to Gurugram, for which the process of changing the house was going on. Police investigation has revealed that Sandeep was suffering from mental stress for some time and was undergoing treatment from a private hospital in the city. Preliminary investigation has revealed suicide.
Police inspected the spot and Sandeep's licensed pistol was recovered at the spot. There were no signs of struggle or forced entry inside the bathroom, due to which the police are considering the suicide angle as strong.
However, the police have recorded the statement of the relatives and started a detailed investigation. The police conducted post-mortem of the body in the afternoon and handed it over to relatives. The incident created an atmosphere of mourning in the entire sector. The police is investigating the matter deeply to find out the circumstances under which Sandeep took this step.
