PTI, Dhaka. Hadi, the youth leader of a right-wing group, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka on Friday. The bullet hit him in the head. He has been admitted to the hospital, where his condition remains critical. He is also a candidate in the general elections to be held on February 12.

Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus has expressed concern over the incident of firing on Inquilab Manch spokesperson Sharif Usman Hadi. Inquilab Manch was playing a leading role in the campaign to dissolve ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Awami League.

Police said Hadi was campaigning in Dhaka's Bijoynagar area in the afternoon when three assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire.

Meanwhile, according to IANS, a case of three teachers of Dhaka University being allegedly attacked by a group of students has come to light. These teachers are affiliated with Neel Dal, a pro-Awami League teachers union. At the same time, Awami League Party has rejected the election programme. It has also been argued that free and fair elections cannot be ensured under the interim government.

According to ANI, Pakistani singer Atif Aslam had to cancel his planned concert in Dhaka on December 13. In fact, he could not get permission for this from the interim government of Bangladesh in the Vijay month of December. Vijay Maah is celebrated to commemorate the surrender of Pakistan Army in December 1971.
