Allegation of bribery in recruitment at contract company in RIMS.
Jagran correspondent, Ranchi. The company providing manpower on contract at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has been seriously accused of demanding bribe in the name of hiring.
This matter has now also taken a political colour. Raising this issue, the Kanke MLA has raised questions on the selection process and the standards of awarding the contract to the company.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, the Medical Superintendent of RIMS has issued a show cause letter to the concerned company M/s Samanta Security and Intelligence Services Private Limited and directed them to give factual clarification.
Issue raised in the 64th Governing Council meeting
This issue figured prominently in the 64th meeting of the RIMS Governing Council held on 3 February. In the meeting, it was alleged on behalf of the MLA that this complaint has come up against the agency selected for providing manpower from external source.
Money has been demanded from some candidates in exchange for getting them appointment. The letter said that if these allegations are found to be true then it is not only a serious irregularity.
This also adversely affects the image of the institute and the transparency of the selection process. The Superintendent had asked the agency to provide point-wise clear and factual answers within two days of receiving the letter.
It has also been warned that in case satisfactory explanation is not received or the allegations are confirmed, action will be taken as per the tender conditions.
Questions were already being raised on the contract process
It is noteworthy that questions were being raised regarding the process since the time the concerned company got the contract. Now another serious allegation has come to light that the EPF and ESIC registration of another outsourced company Vaibhav is said to be only one year old.
According to the rules, prior registration and experience of at least three years is considered necessary for giving this type of work to any agency.
In such a situation, the question is being raised that how the work was allotted to the company despite the prescribed standards. If the allegations of demanding bribe are proved, it will not only be injustice to the unemployed youth but will also question the credibility of the institutions.
Opposition parties are making issues
Opposition parties have also termed the issue as serious and demanded an independent investigation. The company's response is currently awaited from RIMS management.
It is believed that there may be more revelations in this matter in the coming days. If the allegations are found to be true, the agency's contract may be canceled as well as legal action is possible.
At present, the entire matter hinges on administrative investigation and clarification from the company, but it is certain that the transparency of the contract system and selection process in RIMS has now become a subject of public debate.
