Virendra Sharma, Hasanpur. Due to incomplete construction work of road and toilet in Hasanpur grain market, commission agents, laborers and farmers are facing problems. Development work worth Rs 2.22 crore is to be done in Hasanpur grain market. This includes repair of tin sheds for farmers to store their crops, construction of two community toilets, roads and drainage systems. Construction of the road and toilets started in October.

However, due to the beginning of the paddy season, the construction work of roads and toilets was left incomplete. Now it has been more than a month since the government procurement of paddy started, but the department has not yet resumed the construction work of roads and toilets. The painting work on the tin shed is also incomplete.

Due to incomplete construction of toilets, farmers, commission agents and laborers working in the market are forced to defecate in the open. On one hand, the government has completely banned open defecation, while on the other hand, due to the negligence of departmental officials, people in the market are being forced to defecate and urinate in the open. The season for mustard, barley and wheat crops starts in March-April.

If the department does not start the construction work of roads and toilets soon, commission agents, laborers and farmers will all face problems. Apart from Hasanpur, farmers from Likhi, Darana, Bhupgarh, Khambi, Jatauli, Laharpur Fatnagar, Sadhuagarhi, Maholi, Bhendoli, Ramgarh, Bhidki and villages along the Yamuna river in Uttar Pradesh also bring their crops to Hasanpur grain market.

Therefore, the department should complete the road and toilet construction work soon keeping in mind the convenience of the farmers, so that they do not face any problem during the coming crop season.
