External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Canadian counterpart Anita Anand discussed opportunities to deepen cooperation and partnership between the two countries during the Munich Security Conference ahead of Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit to India next month. A Canadian official has said Carney will likely be in India on March 1-2.

Growing momentum in Canada-India relations

This is the fifth meeting between the two foreign ministers since September 2025, reflecting the growing momentum in Canada-India relations. The two ministers discussed further deepening cooperation in a number of areas including energy, technology and trade.

India-Canada relations continue to progress

Jaishankar said in a post, “It was great to meet and talk to the Foreign Minister of Canada. India-Canada relations are continuously progressing.

Anand said, "It was good to meet my Indian counterpart to discuss further work to advance Canada-India relations and shared interests." Anand underlined the importance of India as a partner for Canada, as the two ministers discussed technological benefits and significant partnership opportunities for businesses, industries and workers in both countries.

He further said, "Canada is committed to constructive cooperation, and I look forward to continuing our efforts in India." (With inputs from news agency PTI)
