Jagran correspondent, Jalandhar. There was chaos in the colonies adjacent to Maqsoodan in Jalandhar on Tuesday when a Sambhar strayed from the forest and entered the residential areas. Suddenly an atmosphere of panic was created among the people after seeing Sambhar running in the streets and vacant plots.
On receiving the information, the forest department team reached the spot, but by then Sambhar had left the area. According to the information, Sambhar was first seen in Maqsudan area last afternoon, after which he was seen running towards New Vivek Vihar and Shanti Vihar.
Sambhar was sometimes seen running in vacant plots and sometimes on the road, causing fear among the passers-by and local residents. Many people closed the doors of their houses, while some kept an eye on the situation from the rooftops.

Varsha, a resident of Shanti Vihar, told that construction work of a building was going on near her house. Meanwhile suddenly Sambhar came and stood there. As soon as Sambhar was seen, there was panic among the workers present on the spot and the people nearby.
People raised noise and tried to surround him, but Sambhar quickly ran away from there.

Forest department teams returned empty handed
The incident was immediately informed to the Forest Department. The Forest Department team reached the area and started searching for Sambhar, but by then he had left the residential area and gone somewhere else. Forest Department officials say that Sambhar may have moved towards the forest or fields, yet as a precaution, surveillance is being maintained in the surrounding areas.
At present, Sambhar has not been caught, due to which there is an atmosphere of fear among the residents of Maqsoodan, New Vivek Vihar and Shanti Vihar.
