Nitish government in action on sand mafia. symbolic picture

State Bureau, Patna. In Bihar, the government has launched a major attack against the sand mafia with digital weapons, due to which the entire mining and transport mafia is in panic.

The latest report of the National Informatics Center (NIC) has exposed the digital theft taking place in sand transportation. According to the report, 475 sand carrying vehicles have been found across the state, which have deliberately tampered with the GPS installed in their vehicles and have caused huge loss of revenue to the government.

After the information of NIC came to light, on the instructions of the Mines and Geology Department, all the district mining offices have taken a strict stance against the sand carrying vehicles which have tampered with the GPS and have prepared to impose a fine of Rs 20 thousand to Rs 1 lakh on each vehicle.

Notice has been given to the owners of all 475 such vehicles and it has been made clear that they should clean it first, otherwise fine is fixed.

If payment is not made within the stipulated time, legal action will be taken and the registration of the vehicle will be canceled on the mining portal and this information will be given to NIC.

This is how digital theft was caught

Investigation has revealed that after loading sand and getting e-challan issued, many vehicle owners switched off GPS or stopped sending data.

Its purpose was clear, that information about where the vehicle was going, through which route the sand was being transported and where it was being unloaded should not be revealed.

But digital tracking and technical surveillance of NIC completely exposed this game. This action of the Mining Department has made it clear that now the sand game will not continue in the old ways.

In this era of GPS, e-challan and digital monitoring, even a little cleverness will prove costly. This action is not only a warning but also a clear announcement that digital theft by sand mafia will no longer continue in Bihar.
