To make the power supply system strong and uninterrupted in all the urban bodies of the district, extensive improvement works are being carried out at a cost of Rs 281.73 lakh. Under this, old dilapidated wires will be replaced with new cables, new poles will be erected and three new power houses will be constructed.
Work has already started at many places. After completion of these works, the way will be cleared for 24-hour uninterrupted power supply to electricity consumers in urban areas. More than three lakh consumers will benefit.
There are currently around three lakh electricity consumers in the district, which include domestic and commercial connection holders. In recent years, newly created Nagar Panchayats Dharamsinghwan, Belharkala, Bakhira, Hansar Bazaar as well as new villages included in Mehdawal Nagar Panchayat and 16 villages included in Khalilabad Municipality area are still receiving electricity supply from rural feeders only.
In these areas, due to non-availability of electricity supply as per the urban areas, consumers had to face a lot of problems especially during summer and humid days and there used to be commotion regarding supply every day.

Capacity increase under business plan
Now, to solve these problems, the department has prepared a detailed action plan under the business plan for increasing capacity, laying new lines, making new feeders and construction of new power houses. Funds have also been released for this. Apart from this, under the RDS scheme, the work of installing ABC (Aerial Bunch Cable) in the villages is also being done rapidly, which will reduce the line loss and prevent accidents.

New hope in the new year
Work on all these projects is going on at a fast pace. According to departmental officials, most of the consumers in urban areas will start getting 24-hour power supply in the new year. Overall, this scheme of Rs 281.73 lakh will make the urban electricity system of the district stronger, safer and more reliable than before.
