Communication partner, Chandan (Banka). There is an atmosphere of panic in many panchayats of the block due to the sudden death of first a crow and now hundreds of pigeons amidst severe cold. This sequence has been going on continuously for about a week.

In many villages of Gauripur, Siljori, Birnia and Koriya Panchayat, including the block headquarters, pigeons reared at home are suddenly falling ill and falling to the ground and dying within a short time.

Maximum number of pigeons have died in Bhanra village of Siljori Panchayat. Sitaram Yadav, Jamun Yadav, Nuneshwar Yadav, Shambhu Yadav and others from the village told that a healthy pigeon suddenly sits quietly.

After some time his neck becomes crooked and then he dies. Medicines were taken from the doctor of the local hospital, while medicines were also brought from Deoghar, but none of the medicines were showing any effect.

Various types of apprehensions are being expressed among the villagers due to continuous deaths. Veterinarian in-charge Brijesh Kumar said that it is possible for pigeons to die due to extreme cold, yet the exact reason will be clear only after investigation. At present, medicines are being given to people, although farmers say that it is not having any effect.
