Health services will be affected due to resident doctors' strike (symbolic picture)
Jagran correspondent, Shimla. Resident doctors of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, have announced to go on an indefinite strike from December 27, 2025, regarding their various demands. Resident Doctors Association (RDA) IGMC Shimla has submitted written information in this regard to the college administration.

In the letter issued by RDA, it has been said that after the recent serious incident in the IGMC campus, there is deep concern regarding the safety of doctors. The organization alleges that no satisfactory action has been taken in this matter till now, due to which there is an atmosphere of insecurity among the doctors.
Demand to cancel termination order
Among their main demands, the resident doctors have demanded immediate cancellation of the termination order issued against Dr. Raghav, strict legal action against the accused involved in the incident of assault and vandalism in the hospital premises, registration of FIR under relevant sections and impartial investigation into the matter of threatening the doctors.
Along with this, demands have also been raised to fix accountability for shortcomings in the security arrangements of the hospital, CCTV coverage and non-implementation of previously suggested security measures.

Emergency services will continue
RDA has clarified that all routine services, OPD and elective operation theaters will remain closed in IGMC from 9:30 am on December 27, however, emergency services will continue as before.
Resident doctors say that unless action is taken on their demands with concrete and written assurance, the agitation will continue. Due to the strike, patients coming to the hospital for treatment may face problems.
