Delhi Police Special Cell arrested Ankit Mann, the active shooter of notorious gangster Rajesh Bawana, after an encounter near Dariyapur Pulia, Munak Canal Road, Bawana. He has been involved in nine criminal cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery, extortion and arms and liquor smuggling. A semi-automatic pistol, three cartridges and a bike have been recovered from his possession.
According to DCP Special Cell, Ankit Mann is a resident of village Bajitpur Thakran, Bawana. He studied till tenth standard from Sonipat and then fell into bad company and jumped into the world of organized crime. He emerged as an active shooter and close associate for the Rajesh Bawana gang.
Police say that he is also the son-in-law of Rajesh Bawana. Presently Rajesh Bawana is lodged in Tihar jail. He was running the gang in his absence. He had killed Ajay Dabas of village Pooth Khurd, who was the brother of Himanshu Bhau's associate Vicky. Vicky is carrying out the criminal activities of Himanshu Bhau gang from abroad.
On January 8, near Dariapur Pulia, Munak Canal Road, Bawana, the police team under the leadership of ACP Rahul Kumar Singh, Inspector Manendra Kumar, Sandeep Yadav and Inspector Neeraj Kumar fired four rounds at the police team when the miscreant was signaled to stop and while running away. In self-defense, the police team fired three rounds, one of which hit his right knee.
Two bullets fired by the miscreant hit the bulletproof jacket of Havildar Amit Kumar. After coming out on interim bail last September, Ankit Mann absconded and Rajesh Bawana was inducting criminals into the gang to re-establish the gang.
He started calling liquor smugglers and traders to extort money and started taking betel nuts for murder. He was planning to murder members of rival gangs of Neeraj Bawana-Naveen Bali and Himanshu Bhau gang. He was planning to commit serious crimes in Delhi-NCR and then flee abroad.
