Jagran correspondent, Greater Noida. Random checking of water, sewer and drain in Greater Noida Authority area has started. Authority CEO NG Ravi Kumar has decided to conduct random testing of water from different places as a precautionary measure. On the instructions of the CEO, eight work circle wise teams have been formed and investigation has been started.
This campaign will run for four consecutive days. Apart from this, the authority has also deployed two teams from Shri Ram Institute for Industrial Research Lab. Random testing has been started by the lab. However, residents say that the authority's team is making efforts. On the other hand, the Health Department examined more than 100 people.
CEO NG Ravi Kumar has given instructions to conduct a thorough and random check of any type of leakage, sewer choking overflow and drain-sewer-water connection points in the water supply lines. Eight teams of all the managers and assistant managers of the water-sewer department of the authority have started the investigation. The team has investigated more than 20 places on the first day.
To test water, she is carrying testing equipment like TDS meter, pH and chlorine kit with her. The team found all these in the supplied water as per the standards. The team investigated at places like Sector-1, 2, 4, 16, 16B, Knowledge Park-3, Eros Sampurnanam Society, Ace City, Panchsheel Hainish etc.
The team of Shriram Lab has taken samples from UGR, pumping stations etc. at places like D Block of Delta One, F Block of Delta Three, D Block of Alpha One, F Block of Alpha Two, Beta Two, Gamma One, Eta One, Theta, Chi Four etc. The authority has asked the team of Shri Ram Lab to submit the report soon. However, the lab has said that the testing process will be completed in 10 to 12 days.
No serious problem found in water quality
SK Singh, ACEO of Greater Noida Authority, has said that at present there is no serious or confirmed problem in the water supply system. This investigation is being conducted for the purpose of precautionary and vigilance, so that clean and safe drinking water can be continuously provided to the citizens. The authorities appeal to the citizens not to believe any kind of rumors or unconfirmed information and to rely only on official information.
Investigation of 63 people in Sector Alpha 2
Nearly 70 people have fallen ill in the city after drinking contaminated water in three days. The district health department team has been alerted after the incident. Residents allege that the authority is talking about solving the problem, while dirty water was supplied in Sector Alpha-II, Sector Delta One, Delta II even on Friday.
40 people fell ill after drinking contaminated water in Sector Alpha-2 on Thursday. On Tuesday, 20 people also fell ill in Sector Delta One. Since then, there is anger among the people against those responsible for the supply of contaminated water across the city.
On Friday, two teams of Dadha Community Health Center in Sector Alpha 2 kept investigating throughout the day. A team reached 70 houses and conducted a survey and also collected information about their health and conducted tests.
At the same time, the second team examined 64 people in the camp. During the camp and survey, seven patients of diarrhea, 10 of vomiting, 45 of stomach ache and four each of cough and fever were found. During this period one thousand ORS packets were distributed.
CMO office team took samples for water
The team that arrived from the CMO office in Sector Alpha 2 took water samples from six different houses. The teams went door-to-door to make people aware about the diseases caused by contaminated water and gave detailed information about how to ensure safe water consumption.
