State Bureau, Patna. Bihar government has taken a big step towards strengthening health services in the state and overcoming the shortage of trained human resources.

The government has decided that one ANM training institute each in all 9 divisions of the state and one GNM institute each in all the districts will be opened. Along with this, there is also a plan to establish a para medical college in every district.

Under seven decisions - three, it has been decided to implement this ambitious scheme from the financial year 2026-27. The aim is to complete the process of establishing these institutes within a year, so that training work can start as soon as possible.

Decision taken in view of staff shortage

According to officials, this decision has been taken in view of the increasing demand for health services in the state and the shortage of nursing and paramedical staff in hospitals. Under the new system, nursing and paramedical education will be available to the youth at the local level in rural and urban areas.

This will not only increase employment opportunities but will also improve the quality of health services. Rather, availability of trained personnel can be ensured in primary health centres, community health centers and district hospitals. Apart from this, maternal and child health services will also be further strengthened with the establishment of ANM and GNM institutions.

The opening of Para Medical College will remove the shortage of lab technicians, radiographers, pharmacists and other technical staff. The Health Department has given instructions to start the process of marking land and preparing the outline of infrastructure in the respective districts.
