Crowd of people at the station. (Awakening)
Samvad Sutra, Jamalpur (Munger). Due to dense fog, the operation of trains has completely come to a standstill. Forget about express and mail trains, even premium trains like Rajdhani Express have been hit by fog.
After the accident in the North Frontier Railway area, the Sairang-Anand Vihar Terminal Rajdhani Express passed through Jamalpur with a delay of about 10 hours on the down route. Due to this, this train departed from Anand Vihar Terminal for Sairang much later than the scheduled time on Saturday.
After the delayed operation, the effect of fog on the route increased further. As a result, Rajdhani Express passed through the station about seven hours behind schedule. This increased the troubles of the passengers further.
Here, 15744 Bathinda-Farakka Express, which reached Jamalpur after covering a long distance, also reached Jamalpur station at 10:08 am, delaying by about seven hours from its scheduled time of 3:50 am. Similarly, the Down Brahmaputra Mail from Delhi to Kamakhya reached Jamalpur at 2:38 pm, delaying its scheduled time of 5:58 am by about eight hours.
Vikramshila Express going from Bhagalpur to New Delhi also reached the station with a delay of about four hours. There was dissatisfaction among passengers due to continuous delays.
Due to delay in trains, passengers had to face a lot of problems at Jamalpur station. In the waiting hall, passengers from far-flung areas were seen waiting for trains amidst cold and fog.
Many passengers said that their further journey was also affected due to not getting timely information. Passengers have demanded better management and timely provision of information from the railway administration during fog.
Due to the Railways not making a drain on the western side of the newly constructed commercial building under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at the railway station, the passersby have constructed a toilet. Railway passengers also face a lot of trouble due to the foul smell.
Let us tell you here that on December 4, ADRM Shiv Kumar Prasad of Malda Railway Division, while inspecting Jamalpur, had directed the engineering department to construct a drain so that the passengers do not face any problem in commuting while catching the train due to the foul smell emanating from here, but till now no initiative has been taken by the concerned department regarding the order.
E-rickshaw stand has been built
E-rickshaw drivers have made a stand on the railway land near the main entrance of the newly constructed commercial building near Jamalpur Railway Station. The irony is that more and more Railway Protection Force and GRP officials are coming through this route every day.
Since last month, railway officials are also continuously inspecting Jamalpur. Despite this, the morale of e-rickshaw drivers is high and the security agencies are maintaining silence.
FOB construction not started
The work of construction of foot over bridge on platform number one of Jamalpur railway station to connect the eastern and western areas of the city has not been started yet.
Whereas the Additional Divisional Railway Manager, during the station inspection, had instructed the concerned department to start this construction work within a week. He got the lining work done at the marked place in his presence.
Train passes, announcement continues
An awkward situation arose for many passengers standing on platform number one of Jamalpur railway station when the railway announcer announced at 12:14 minutes that 13241 Banka Rajendra Nagar Intercity Express was coming at number two.
Whereas this train arrived at platform number two of Jamalpur railway station a little before the scheduled time of 11:45 and left at 12:10. Even after the train had started, various types of discussions started taking place among the passengers after hearing the announcement of arrival.
