Spend Less Ganga Water: Evening Water Supply Stopped, Cleaning Of Jedjhal Canal Started With 6 Poklen-8 JCBs.

Jagran correspondent, Firozabad. The Irrigation Department has started the cleaning work of Jedjhal canal from Saturday. Six Poklanes, eight JCBs and more than a dozen tractors have been deployed in this work. In the afternoon, officials of the Irrigation Department and Water Works Department reached the spot and inspected the work. Due to stoppage of supply from the canal, there was no water supply in the city on Saturday evening.

Irrigation department has taken closure for 14 days

Water is supplied to the city from Jedjhal canal. Due to lack of cleaning for the last several months, a large amount of grass and silt has accumulated in the canal. Due to this, the water crisis in the city had deepened last month. Here, in view of the possibility of water crisis during the summer season, the Irrigation Department has taken a closure of 14 days to clean the canal.

Now Ganga water will be available only in the evening, spend less

Water in the canal was stopped on Friday itself. Poklane, JCB and tractors also reached the canal in the evening. The cleaning work started from 9 am on Saturday. GM Jalkal Satish Kumar said that the cleaning work will be monitored daily, so that the work can be completed within the stipulated time. He said that till January 29, water will be supplied from the lake built to overcome the temporary crisis in Nandpur only in the morning. During this period, people will have to exercise patience and conserve water.

More than a dozen complaints came to the control room

On Saturday, phones kept ringing in the control room of the water supply department regarding the water crisis. More than a dozen people lodged complaints including those from Arya Nagar, Purani Mandi, Chhota Chauraha, Chhoti Chhapaiti, Bagiya Mohalla. The employee posted in the control room said that due to closure of the canal, there will be no water supply in the evening till January 29.
