State Bureau, Ranchi. The properties located in Jharkhand of those who fled to the enemy country during the war period will be auctioned. During this auction, the Center has requested the Jharkhand Government to waive the stamp duty at the time of first registration.

The Custodian of Inmy Property for India (CEPI), operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has corresponded with the state government. CEPI is a statutory body constituted under the provisions of the Enemy Property Act 1968, which is responsible for the protection, management and sale of property of people belonging to the enemy nation who have fled the country to other enemy countries during the war.

The Government of India has given high priority to the execution of these assets. Presently the property is being monetized through e-auction through CEPI.

In order to encourage e-auction of such property being conducted through CEPI, a request has been made to the Jharkhand Government to exempt the property from stamp duty at the time of first registration under the said Act and to reject the registration in favor of the buyer on the basis of the sale certificate issued by CEPI.

Estimates of wealth of people of Pakistan and Bangladesh

People from Pakistan and Bangladesh are estimated to have property in Jharkhand. There was a war between India and Pakistan in 1965 and 1971. In both the wars, the enemy country had to face defeat.

During the 1971 war, East Pakistan was separated from Pakistan and the new country Bangladesh was formed. During both these wars, citizens of enemy countries had fled to their own countries. After his departure, the property left by him was bought and sold over time.

There is information that there was some such property in Haidernagar of Palamu, which has been bought and sold. After CEPI's letter, such remaining properties will now be identified so that they can also be auctioned.
