Jagran correspondent, Bhagalpur. Bhagalpur may soon get the gift of a bus stand equipped with modern facilities. Regarding this, Mayor Dr. Basundhara Lal had a courtesy meeting with District Magistrate Dr. Naval Kishore Chaudhary in his office on Tuesday. In the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the overall development of the city, strengthening of infrastructure and early implementation of pending schemes.
In the meeting, the proposal to construct a convenient high-tech bus stand in Rikshadih area was prominent. The Mayor said that at present, due to disorganized operation of buses in the city, the problem of jam persists and passengers face a lot of inconvenience. With the construction of a modern bus stand at Rickshadih, the traffic system will be smooth, traffic pressure will be reduced and passengers will get better facilities.
Apart from this, the projects operated under the Chief Minister Overall Urban Development Scheme were also reviewed. The Mayor urged to complete the pending works within the time limit on priority basis, so that the city residents can get benefits.
He said that effective implementation of the schemes will strengthen the identity of Bhagalpur as a modern and well-organized city. Issues like drainage system, strengthening of roads, street lights and public lighting were also discussed in the meeting. Emphasis was laid on cleaning drains and completing necessary improvement works on time to prevent water logging during the rainy season.
After the meeting, the Mayor said that the aim of the Municipal Corporation is to make Bhagalpur a smart, clean and organized city. Construction of hi-tech bus stand will strengthen the transport system and will also create new opportunities for business and employment. He said that the District Magistrate has taken a positive stance on the proposals and has assured all possible cooperation. The District Magistrate also talked about speeding up the development plans by giving necessary instructions to the concerned departments.
