Stepmother accused of selling her son.
Jagran correspondent, Sureri (Jaunpur). A sensational case of step mother selling her innocent son in a bargain has come to light in Bhanapur village of Rampur police station area. The child's aunt has filed a complaint in the police station demanding action. The relatives are worried as no trace of the child has been found even after five days.
Dharmendra, a Scheduled Caste resident of Bhanapur village, lived with his sister Saroja. Dharmendra's first wife Pinka died about six years ago. Aunt Saroja was raising the three children born to Pinka, 10-year-old Mohan, eight-year-old Jyoti and seven-year-old Sheetal.
About a year ago, Dharmendra had got married for the second time to Sheela Devi of Pauhar village of Machlishahr Kotwali area. A few days after the marriage, Dharmendra went to Mumbai to earn his livelihood.
Saroja alleges that after this her stepmother Sheela Devi forcibly took Mohan to her maternal home. When Saroja asked to send Mohan a few days ago, he started hedging. On going there we came to know that Mohan was not in Sheela Devi's parents' house.
On enquiry, Sheela's brother Mahendra said that Mohan would be returned after paying Rs 25,000. Aunt Saroja filed a complaint in Rampur police station on Monday alleging that she suspects that Sheela Devi and her brother Mahendra have sold Mohan to someone.
When asked about this, Rampur police station in-charge Vinod Kumar said that he is not aware of any such case. On the other hand, Mohan's relatives are worried about the possibility of some untoward incident as no trace of him has been found even after five days.
