Jagran correspondent, East Delhi. In Shastri Park area, a stepfather attacked and killed a 12-year-old boy with a sharp weapon. He did not stop here. He then crushed the boy's face with a stone.

He then made a video call to his wife, showed her the child's body and told her the location, saying, "Come and take the child, I have killed him." After disconnecting the call he ran away. The deceased has been identified as Altamash (12).

Based on the complaint of the deceased's mother Mumtaz, a case of murder has been registered at Shastri Park police station. Police are conducting raids in search of absconding accused Wajid.

Altamash lived with his family in Shastri Park. The family consists of his mother Mumtaz, elder brothers Aman and Wasi, and his stepfather Wajid. The deceased's sister Iram told that their father Shafiq had died in 2019. A few months later, his mother married Wajid in Nizamuddin.

Wajid was already married. Wajid works as a rickshaw puller. For the last one week, there was a fight between Mumtaz and her husband over separating the children from the family. Troubled by this, the woman had gone to her sister's house to live alone. Wajid was calling him and asking him to come back home. The woman refused.

Iram said his two younger brothers, Altamash and Wasi, studied in classes seven and nine respectively in a government school in Shastri Park. Both went to school on Thursday. Wajid reached school in his rickshaw during school leave in the evening. He put both his step sons in a rickshaw and took them to Shastri Park traffic light.

He put the elder son in the rickshaw and took the younger son into the bushes, saying that he would show him some rats. An hour later he returned alone from the bushes. When the elder son asked where Altamash was, he said that he had gone home. He also asked him to go home.

When Altamash did not return home even by 7 pm, the family started searching for him. It is alleged that Wajid sent an audio message to his wife at 6 am on Friday morning. Later, he video called her and said, "I have killed your son. Go and bring his body from the bushes."

When the family reached the bushes, they found the dead body. There were knife wounds on the body caused by a sharp weapon. It is suspected that he was hit on the face with a stone. His face was completely disfigured. The family identified the child by his school uniform and ID card.

Mumtaz alleges that a year ago, her husband took her to Seelampur court, saying he would get her ration card made there. There, he made her sign divorce papers. He is illiterate. When she showed those papers to her children, they learned that Wajid had divorced her. Even after the divorce, he continued to live with Mumtaz.

Police will also interrogate the former mother-in-law of the accused

The child's family has alleged that the accused's former mother-in-law sells goods at a cart near the place where the child was murdered. The accused was in contact with him. Police say that they will also interrogate the former mother-in-law of the accused.

A case of murder has been registered. Several teams have been formed to nab the accused. The body has been taken into custody and sent for postmortem.
