The operation is being done by lighting the torch. (Awakening)
Samvad Sutra, Keredari (Hazaribagh). The gross negligence that came to light during the female sterilization operation at the Community Health Center located at the block headquarters has raised serious questions on the functioning of the entire health system.
In the sterilization operation camp organized on Saturday, it has come to light that the operation of two to three women was done in the light of mobile torch, due to which there is an atmosphere of anger and concern in the area.
According to the information, dozens of women from different villages of the block were being operated in the camp. Meanwhile, the electricity in the operation theater suddenly went off.
The surprising thing is that despite the availability of diesel generator facility in the CHC, alternative arrangements were not made immediately and the sterilization operation of some women was done only in the light of torch. This negligence is not only a blatant violation of medical standards but also directly endangers the lives of women.
On this work of the Health Department, local people say that a sensitive and risky operation like sterilization should be done in full light, modern equipment and in a safe environment. Despite this, the operation being carried out in the dark shows that there is a severe lack of responsibility and sensitivity in the government health centres.
When resources are available, why they were not utilized has emerged as the biggest question. However, after three-four operations, when there was an uproar, the power system was restored by starting the generator.
Regarding the matter, the doctor in-charge of CHC, Dr. Nafees Anjum, admitted that this incident is the result of indifference and negligence of the staff. He said that all the necessary facilities are present in the health center and the entire incident is being investigated. Action will be taken against the guilty personnel.
Administration should investigate those who performed the operation in torch light and take action against the culprits: San
MP Manish Jaiswal, in a strong attack on the state government and Health Minister Irfan Ansari, based on the viral incident of sterilization operation being conducted under torchlight at the Keredari Community Health Centre, termed the health system of the state as all-time low.
It was also described as presenting a frightening picture of the government health system. He expressed apprehension that the manner in which the operation was being conducted was probably due to the absence of any qualified doctor. This is directly playing with the lives of women and a flagrant violation of medical standards.
Regarding the matter, MP Jaiswal demanded from Health Minister Irfan Ansari to conduct a high-level inquiry into the matter and take immediate strict action against the guilty personnel and officers. The MP said that the minister is only busy in making statements, whereas the ground reality is extremely worrying.
I myself have reached Keredari and investigated the matter at my own level. The viral video has been made by a Sahiya motivated by malicious intent. At the same time, this video made by Sahiya in the time between power failure and change of changer is a conspiracy to defame the department. As far as the doctor's absence is concerned, the same team which has conducted the operation in Badkagaon by Kat Service i.e. Green Youth Foundation, has also conducted the operation in Keredari. In such a situation, the allegation of absence of a doctor is completely wrong. The department is always ready to provide better health facilities to the people.
