PTI, New Delhi. The Supreme Court has decided to hear on Thursday the petition filed by the producer of Vijay-starrer Tamil film 'Jannanayak'. It challenges an interim order of the Madras High Court, which had stayed the single judge's direction that the film be cleared by the CBFC.
According to the Supreme Court list, a bench of Justices Dipankar Dutta and Augustine George Masih is likely to hear the case.
On January 9, the Madras High Court had stayed the single judge's order directing the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to immediately grant a censor certificate to 'Jannanayak', throwing the future of Vijay's film, which was in the news due to its political context, into uncertainty.
KVN Productions LLP last Friday filed an appeal against the order passed by a division bench of the High Court, which had set aside the single bench's direction that the Board should immediately issue the certificate to the film. Vijay has recently founded his own political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
