Samvad Sutra, Pothia (Katihar). A utensil hawker was assaulted and snatched by calling him a Bangladeshi. Police have registered a case in the matter and have started investigation.
The incident took place on the evening of January 11 in Chakla village of Pothia police station area. The victim is a resident of Simaria of Kodha police station. Victim Mohd. Akmal Hussain told that on January 11 at 5 pm, he was selling utensils by hawking in Chakla village of Pothia police station area. Meanwhile, two unknown persons who came on a bicycle started abusing him calling him Bangladeshi.
When the local women protested, the accused became furious and started fighting. The accused assaulted him by repeatedly hitting him on the head, calling him an outsider and snatched Rs 12,000 from the shirt packet. He was seriously injured in this incident. He has been admitted to the hospital.
Here, after the incident, Congress leader Taukir Alam came to meet the injured. Took complete information about the incident. He said that Seemanchal region is a Bengali speaking dominated area and calling the Bengali speaking citizens here as Bangladeshis is extremely shameful and condemnable.
Such incidents hurt social harmony. The administration should take strict action in such cases so that such incidents do not recur in future. He demanded immediate identification of the culprits from the administration and strict legal action.
A case has been registered in Pothia police station regarding the incident of assault on utensil hawker Akmal Hussain by two people by calling him an outsider and a Bangladeshi. Sadar SDPO-2 Ranjan Singh has started investigation.
