Dialogue source, Bhathat. More than half a dozen terracotta stalls included in the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme will be set up in the Gorakhpur Mahotsav. Along with traditional terracotta artefacts, attractive dolls and decorative fountains will also woo people this time. Gorakhpur Mahotsav will be inaugurated on 11 January 2026 at Champa Devi Park, where an exhibition of products from different places will be organised.
Terracotta craftsmen of Bhathat area are preparing different artefacts to be included in the exhibition of Gorakhpur Mahotsav. Keeping in mind the Beti Bachao Beti Badhao campaign, terracotta dolls are being made. Hariom Azad, a resident of Budhau Tola of Gram Panchayat Jungle Ekla number two, said that terracotta dolls are being specially made. So that this time the people coming to the exhibition can experience the transformation of the artefacts.
Three and a half feet tall dolls along with about a hundred types of flower pots will be the main attraction of the festival. More than 15 male and female craftsmen are engaged every day in their preparation.

Ramdaras, who is engaged in the manufacturing of terracotta dolls, said that at present their demand has increased rapidly. People are giving preference to such types of artworks for the decoration of their homes and offices. Craftsman Poonam told that there is a demand for new types of artefacts including dolls in many cities including Bhopal, Jhansi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Indore.
Craftsmen say that due to the inclusion of terracotta in the ODOP scheme by the state government, their business has doubled. Earlier there was demand for traditional artefacts. Now people are showing interest in making terracotta artefacts of new designs and modern styles. Therefore, special preparations are being made for the exhibition to be organized in Gorakhpur Mahotsav.
