Vinay Trivedi, Gurugram. Faisal Idrisi, a resident of Mirpur Cantonment, Kanpur, was murdered by his friend, who then tied his hands and legs, hid the body in the bushes and ran away. Fourteen days later, on January 8, his decomposed body was recovered from bushes behind a petrol pump near Sector 37 Shani Mandir.

When there was no other way to identify the body, a bill found in his pocket not only helped in identifying the deceased but also proved crucial in locating the murderer. The police arrested the accused in this blind murder case on Thursday night, which solved the case.

When the body of the youth was found in Sector 37 on the morning of January 8, initial investigation could not identify him. During the search, a bill was found in the youth's pants pocket. It was a bill for the delivery of some goods from a porter. A mobile number was written on it.

Upon investigation, the name and address linked to the mobile number turned out to be Faisal of Mirpur Cantonment, Kanpur. Sector 10A police station contacted Kanpur Police, traced the family and called them to Gurugram. The father identified the body as that of his son Faisal. The family accused Faisal's wife Uzma and his maternal uncle Aftab of murder. He told that he last spoke to him on December 23.

The police registered a named FIR against the wife and maternal uncle as both were missing since December 23, making them the prime suspects. The police searched for the accused, but they were not found. Uzma's family lives in Gurugram. The police also interrogated him. It was learned that a fight had taken place on December 22, after which Faisal had gone missing.

On January 13, the station house officer handed over the case to SI Amit Garhwal. Amit Garhwal traced a bank account using the phone number found on the bill. A bank account was found in which transactions were happening continuously till 24th December, but after 25th December the transactions stopped.

Another transaction took place on December 26, in which Rs 5,000 was withdrawn. It was found that Faisal had never withdrawn more than Rs 1,000 before, hence this big transaction made the police suspicious. Police obtained the call detail record (CDR) of Faisal's mobile number.

Faisal had talked to two people seven times between 8 am and 12 noon on December 24. One number belonged to Faisal's family, and the other was registered in the name of a man named Satish Tiwari in Rae Bareli. Faisal spoke to Satish four times, each conversation lasting 30 to 40 seconds.

There was a conversation on the second number for 10 to 11 minutes. Satish was suspected. However, the police did not have Satish's complete address, which made the investigation difficult. When Satish's mobile number was checked, it was found that it was switched off since December 26.

Liquor was purchased four times from the wine shop, accused seen in CCTV footage: When Satish's phone was found switched off, the investigating officer re-checked the bank account. It was revealed that on December 24, Faisal had made four transactions worth Rs 110. The location of these transactions was a wine shop in Sector 37 G Town.

Police inquired at the wine shop and found out that a small bottle of liquor cost Rs 110. The police checked the CCTV footage outside the wine shop continuously for eight hours. In the footage, Faisal was seen arriving four times on a motorcycle with an associate. Faisal's picture was clear, but his companion's face was blurred. The crime scene where the body was found is just a hundred meters away from the wine shop.

Therefore, the police now had a strong suspicion that the young man accompanying Faisal had committed the crime. Subsequently, the IMEI number of Satish's mobile phone was checked, which revealed another mobile SIM card. The CDR of that number was obtained, which revealed conversations with two people. Police called on both the numbers. One number was of Satish's wife, and the other was of his brother-in-law.

During interrogation, Satish's home address was found to be Saraswati Enclave, and subsequently the accused Satish was arrested near Himgiri Chowk in Gurugram. He confessed to his crime during interrogation. Satish had given Rs 15,000 to Faisal by mortgaging his wife's earrings.

According to the police, during interrogation it was revealed that Satish Tiwari used to work as a delivery boy in Gurugram. Faisal was also a delivery boy. Both of them became friends at a wine shop about one and a half months ago. Satish needed a loan of Rs 1 lakh, and when he told Faisal about it, Faisal offered to get the loan. But he asked for Rs 15,000 for it. Satish gave Rs 15,000 to Faisal by mortgaging his wife's earrings. However, he did not get the loan, so he was repeatedly asking Faisal for the money back.
