जागरण संवाददाता, दरभंगा । शहर में बढ़ते प्रदूषण से आमलोग परेशान हैं। इसे लेकर नगर निगम की ओर से कोई ठोस पहल नहीं की जा रही है। Maximum pollution is being seen at Benta Chowk, Laheriasarai and Karpuri Chowk of the city.

Dust is visible on the roads since early morning. School children are being greatly affected by this. Besides, common people are also suffering a lot due to this. Those constructing multi-storey buildings are playing with people's lives and their health. Due to which pollution is continuously increasing.

But the said plan was not implemented. The plan remained limited to the file only.

This is a matter of concern for the local environment and the health of citizens. Trees and plants play an important role in reducing air pollution, increasing urban greenery and providing relief from heat. Recently the AQI level in the city has been recorded at 155, which is harmful for health. The level of air pollution in the city is increasing rapidly.

The city's major air pollution measuring instruments have been burnt for years.

Currently the AQI level is being recorded around 150 which falls in the 'moderate to poor' category. Earlier, the AQI had reached 183, which is in the 'poor' category. People say that if this situation continues and the pollution monitoring system is not made smooth, then the air quality in the city may go to very poor levels.

In winter, due to falling temperature and reduced wind speed, pollutant particles accumulate near the ground, due to which pollution increases rapidly. Doctors say that due to bad air, problems like difficulty in breathing, throat irritation, headache and eye irritation are increasing.

Ramanand Path residents Chandra Narayan Jha, Chandra Mohan Singh, Mithilesh Kumar, Arun Kumar Lal Das etc. said that the AQI information was last visible on the display board of the air pollution station installed in the Town Hall premises on January 14, 2023. Shortly thereafter, a fire broke out in the station, due to which all the machines were burnt and destroyed. Since then the station is completely inactive.

People said that many times demands were made for its repair and re-establishment, but till now no action has been taken. In the city, necessary measures like dust management, road cleaning, water sprinkling, scientific disposal of garbage are either not being taken or are being done on a very limited scale around the residence of the officers.

According to pollution experts, if the Municipal Corporation makes arrangements for regular road cleaning and dust control, pollution can be reduced by 15-20 percent. But currently in many areas of the city, building construction as well as other works are being done ignoring the rules. Due to this the air quality is deteriorating.

A guideline has been made by the Municipal Corporation regarding the construction of old and new buildings in the city. The raiding team is investigating and fining the material used for construction work on the roadside. Action is also taken on the complaints of common people.
