Jagran correspondent, Khunti. Abua Jharkhand Party's working president and Padha Raja Soma Munda was shot dead by two unidentified criminals riding a motorcycle on Wednesday evening near Jamuadag village near the city.
According to the information received regarding the incident, the criminals carried out this incident when Soma Munda was returning to his village Chalagi after gathering from Khunti in the evening with his wife on his bike.
After the incident, his wife, who was riding a bike, reached Khunti police station in an auto etc. and informed the police about the incident. As soon as the information was received, the police immediately reached the spot and picked up Soma Munda lying at the spot and took him to a nearby private hospital named KS Ganga, where the doctors declared him dead.
Soma Munda's wife told that while returning with her husband from Khunti to their village Chalagi in the evening, when they reached near the pond located on Jamudag Marg, suddenly two criminals riding on a bike came from behind and overtook the bike and fired two rounds. Out of which one bullet hit Soma Munda in the chest.
After being shot, Soma Munda stopped the bike, but his condition immediately deteriorated and he fell. Meanwhile, after firing the bullets, the attackers fled towards Mandarutoli on a bike.
As soon as information about the incident was received, Trainee DSP Rampravesh Kumar, Circle Inspector Kishun Das, Khunti police station in-charge Mohan Kumar and other police officers reached the hospital, and started investigating the case after getting necessary information from Soma Munda's wife.
As soon as the news of the murder of Soma Munda, who had been fighting for the protection of water, forest, land and constitutional rights of tribals from the beginning, spread, there was a sensation in the area.
