Pakistani cricketer breaks three decade old record

Sports Desk, New Delhi. Pakistan's Test team captain Shan Masood has done a great job by scoring a double century in domestic cricket. Masood scored a double century on the first day of the match against Sahar Associates while playing for Sui Northern Gas in the President Cup Departmental Tournament. With this he has destroyed an old record of former Pakistan captain Inzamam ul Haq.

Masood completed a double century in just 177 balls on the first day of this match, which is the fastest double century so far in Pakistan's domestic first class tournament. Earlier this record was in the name of Inzamam. Inzamam had completed a double century in 188 balls in a tour match during the England tour in 1992.

Put the team in a strong position

By the end of the day's play, Masood had scored 212 runs facing 185 balls. This inning of Masood not only registered his name in the record books but also strengthened his team. Inzamam's three decade old record had been standing for a long time and it seemed that no one would be able to break it. This record has now been made in the name of Masood.

Wanted to end board, end career

Masood has shown a lot of commitment towards cricket in recent times. At the age of 36, he rejected the full-time role of Pakistan's full-time Director of International Cricket. Masood kept focus on his playing. The Pakistan Cricket Board had appointed Masood as a consultant earlier this year, but it wanted Masood to quit playing and take up a purely administrative role, but Masood refused to do so.
