Jagran correspondent, Lucknow. The general budget presented on Sunday gave impetus to the construction of the second phase of Metro in Lucknow. Provision has been made for metro expansion in the budget. The Central Government will contribute Rs 1450 crore for the expansion of Lucknow Metro.
In Lucknow, metro is currently running on the North-South corridor from Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport to Munshipulia. In the second phase, the metro will run on the East-West corridor on about 11.16 km route from Charbagh to Basant Kunj. There will be a total of 12 stations on this corridor. In which there will be seven underground and five elevated stations. The Union Cabinet had given its approval for this corridor only last year.
5801 crores may be spent
A total of Rs 5801 crore can be spent on the construction of Blue Line Metro with three bogies. Central and state governments will provide half the amount to be spent on this project. The remaining loan will be taken by UPMRC. UPMRC will take a loan of about Rs 2900 crore. The Central Government's share will be approximately Rs 1450 crore. UPMRC has started the tender process for the second phase of metro construction.

UPMRC has selected the detail design consultant. This firm will give its report on many points related to the commercial use of the metro route, services available at the station, etc.
Tender issued to build 740 meter long ramp
UPMRC has issued a tender for the construction of 4.6 km elevated section at Thakurganj, Balaganj, Sarfarazganj, Moosabag and Basantkunj stations and a 740-metre long ramp at Basantkunj depot with a capacity of five lines.
At the same time, the tender process for the construction of interchange underground station Charbagh, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Aminabad, Pandeyganj, City Railway Station, Medical Square and Chowk will start soon. Along with this, a depot will also be constructed.
