PTI, New Delhi. The government told the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that there is no concrete data to prove a direct link between deaths due to air pollution.

Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh, in a written reply to a question, said the National Clean Air Program (NCAP) launched by the ministry is showing positive results.

Kirti Vardhan Singh said, there is no concrete data from which a direct link can be established with deaths due to air pollution. That means it can be said with certainty that the death has occurred only due to air pollution. He said that NCAP aims to improve air quality in 130 cities in 24 states/union territories.

The minister said there has been a reduction in PM10 in 103 cities in 2024-25 compared to the base year of 2017-18. He also said that the government is continuously reviewing and monitoring the implementation framework of NCAP so that it can be further strengthened.
