Jaiprakash Ranjan, New Delhi. India has bluntly told the Bangladesh government that it is the responsibility of the Yunus government to remove the anti-India atmosphere created there after the murder of student leader Usman Hadi. India has expressed hope from the Bangladesh government that it will conduct an impartial investigation into the murder of student leader Hadi as soon as possible.
Senior officials of the Indian Foreign Ministry said this before Bangladesh High Commissioner Riyaz Hamidullah in New Delhi. Along with expressing concern over the attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, India has also expressed special concern over the rumors against India there. The Indian Foreign Ministry had called Hamidullah on Tuesday evening.
'Bangladeshi High Commissioner was only called'
Earlier, the Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh had summoned Indian High Commissioner Prannoy Verma on Tuesday morning itself and raised before him the incidents of demonstrations and alleged vandalism outside the Bangladeshi High Commission and visa centers in India. According to sources in the Indian Foreign Ministry, the Bangladeshi High Commissioner was only called and not summoned. To call is a general invitation, while to summon is a formal and official call, which often involves an obligation to attend for some reason.
According to sources, in the context of the murder of student leader Hadi, special emphasis has been given to the Bangladeshi High Commissioner that the manner in which any incident is being linked to India without investigation is very worrying for bilateral relations. Be it the murder of Hadi or the murder of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das, they should be investigated impartially and the culprits should be punished. It should be noted that after the death of student leader Hadi, demonstrations were held against India throughout Bangladesh.
Radicals trying to fuel anti-India attitude
On one hand, a statement came from Dhaka Police and the Home Minister of the interim government that they do not know where Hadi's killers are. On the other hand, student leaders were publicly blaming India for the murder of Hadi. It is believed that the interim government of Mohammad Yunus, which has completely failed in handling the internal security system in the country, is trying to further fuel the anti-India attitude to woo the radical student leaders.
The already tense relations between India and Bangladesh have worsened since the assassination of Usman Hadi. Rumors are being continuously spread against India and under the guise of this, student leaders are trying to do politics. Before the Bangladesh High Commissioner, the Indian Foreign Ministry expressed its concern over the creation of an atmosphere against India without any investigation and the inaction of the government there in this regard.
Let it be noted that the interim government has planned to hold general elections on February 12, 2026. The deteriorating situation in Bangladesh and the protests against India are being linked to this. Considering the situation, India has significantly limited the services of its High Commission. In response, Bangladesh has temporarily suspended visa services in Delhi and Agartala.
