Jagran correspondent, Muzaffarpur. Vigilance officers were receiving complaints of taking excess money from passengers at the unreserved ticket (UTS) counters of other railway stations including Muzaffarpur.

On this, at around 10 am on Tuesday, a three-member team of vigilance officers from East Central Railway Headquarters raided three ticket counters simultaneously. Rs 90 more were seized from counter number four.

When senior commercial clerk Pradeep Kumar, who was booking tickets at that counter, was searched, Rs 300 and Rs 1475 were found in different pockets. When the Senior Commercial Clerk was questioned about keeping so much money in the team, he cited the reason for the Rs 90 received from the counter as not being retail.

Regarding the money received from his pocket, he said that he should bring money from home to buy medicine. Vigilance has registered a case against Senior Commercial Clerk Pradeep Kumar and sent a report to the Chief Vigilance Officer of East Central Railway Headquarters for further action. Also deposited Rs 1775 in the government treasury. During this time UTS incharge KG Nandan was also interrogated.

It is being told that Muzaffarpur-Cherlapalli Amrit Bharat Express opens on Tuesday. Complaints were also being received about excessive amount being charged for the tickets of this train. While conducting the raid, the Vigilance team first went to ticket counter number one. Senior Commercial Clerk Amita Kumari, who was booking tickets there, found Rs 155 less from her counter.

Vigilance officer said that whether more or less money is received from the counter, both fall in the category of crime. Since there was no woman in the Vigilance team, they were not searched. Women RPF were also not present on the spot. Due to this, investigation could not be done properly.

Apart from this, everything was found correct in Nitish Kumar's investigation at counter number two. Vigilance officers Kumar Neeraj, Praveen Kumar and Ajit Kumar Jha were included in the raiding team.

It is said that on the complaint of taking excess money from the passengers, the Vigilance team first checked the counters from outside. After this they came inside and raided the counter. The matter came to light on this.
