Samvad Sutra, Shahi (Bareilly). Police arrested two miscreants in an encounter who were doing recce wearing burqa during the day and stealing at night. One miscreant was shot in the leg while the other was caught after combing. Apart from Rs 3 lakh in cash, gold biscuits and silver bricks, a pistol was also recovered from both of them. On the basis of interrogation of the accused, the police have also arrested the moneylender who bought stolen goods and melted the jewelery and converted it into biscuits and bricks.
On the night of February 5, an incident of burning took place in the house of Chand Babu, a resident of Azamnagar, Shahi. The thieves broke the lock of the house and stole gold and silver jewelery and Rs 28 thousand in cash. An FIR was lodged in the Shahi police station in the matter and two teams were deployed to investigate the incident.
Police took out many CCTV footage and towers... In the CCTV footage, two people wearing burqa were seen doing recce of the house but their behavior was not like that of women. On the basis of suspicion, the police was searching for them but no clue was found. Shahi police station in-charge was patrolling on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, information was received that the accused who stole Chand Babu's house were planning to run away after selling the stolen goods. When the police laid siege near BSNL intersection, the accused opened fire on the police. In retaliation, the police also opened fire and one miscreant was shot in the leg and he got injured and fell down. The police caught his other associate after combing.
During interrogation, the injured accused revealed his name as Imran, a resident of Azamnagar in Shahi and the other as Taufiq, a resident of Basai village in Shahi. Police recovered two pistols, Rs 3 lakh in cash, a 49 gram gold biscuit, a silver brick weighing 446 grams and a bike from the accused. During interrogation, the accused told that they had committed the theft after Reiki at Chand Babu's house.
When the police asked about the stolen goods from Chand Babu's house, the accused told that all the jewels stolen from his house were sold by converting them into gold and silver tikkis.
He was going out of Shahi with Rs 3 lakh of the same. After this, the police also arrested Saraf Rastogi, a resident of Subhashnagar, Shahi. All three accused have been sent to jail. One accused is still wanted and teams are busy searching for him.
The criminals have a long criminal history
According to the police, both the criminals have a long criminal history. 15 cases are registered against the accused Imran who was injured in the encounter and 16 cases are registered against Taufiq in different police stations of the district.
There was a theft in Shahi, in the same case the police have arrested three accused including a jeweler. One of the accused was shot in the leg in the encounter. Three lakh cash, gold, silver biscuits and bricks have been recovered from the accused. One accused is still wanted.
