The police station has been involved in 25 criminal cases in several states, including theft of Rs 25 crore from Hazrat Nizamuddin's jewelery shop.
Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. The Crime Branch team has arrested a notorious criminal who stole gold and diamond jewelery worth crores of rupees from a jewelery shop at night. The arrested accused has been identified as Lokesh Shrivas alias Lokeshwar Shrivas alias Golu of Ganganagar, Chhattisgarh, who has been involved in 25 criminal cases in several states including theft of Rs 25 crore from the jewelery shop of Hazrat Nizamuddin police station.

According to Deputy Commissioner Harsh Indora, Head Constable Hardeep had received secret information from an informer that notorious thief Lokesh who was involved in the biggest jewelery theft of Hazrat Nizamuddin of Delhi in 2023 had committed a sensational theft in the heart of Raipur city of Chhattisgarh and was hiding in Delhi to avoid arrest.
On receiving the information, a team was formed under the supervision of ACP Rajpal Dabas and under the leadership of Inspector Akshay. After manual surveillance and technical inputs, the team traced and caught the accused from Delhi.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused was wanted in a theft case registered in Raipur, Chhattisgarh on February 1, in which the accused had stolen around Rs 7 lakh in cash and valuables from three shops during the night. After the incident, the accused absconded and went to Maharashtra and later came to Delhi and hid.

The accused is an old and habitual jewelery thief, who used to target jewelery shops, mobile shops and closed shops mostly at night. He earlier worked in a hair cutting salon, but the greed to earn easy and quick money turned him into a thief.
He is one of the few thieves in the country who commits this crime alone. He is very fond of stealing and treats it like a hobby. He had come to Delhi for his court date in 2025 and during this time he committed theft in three shops in Chandni Chowk area.
He recently came out of Bilaspur jail on 29th January this year and on the night of 31st January he stole from three shops within a few hours. He has so far stolen around 30 kg of gold in the last five years, which is worth more than Rs 45 crore.
