Actually, in 2023, Eric (fictitious name, identity withheld) stayed in a hotel in Shenzhen, southern China with his girlfriend. Weeks later, he came across a video while browsing an adult content channel.
After watching the video, the ground slipped from under my feet!
According to the BBC report, within a few seconds he saw the hotel room in which he was staying with his girlfriend, the sequence of events and then looked at himself and recognized that it was him and his girlfriend.
What was shown in the footage?
The footage showed the couple entering the room, placing their bags and later having an intimate moment. All this was unknowingly recorded in a hidden camera installed inside the hotel room. The video was uploaded without her consent and could be viewed by thousands of people online.
Eric from Hong Kong described the experience as scary and said that a hidden spy camera had recorded him and his girlfriend in the hotel room for about an hour. Eric said that he initially liked porn videos because they seemed more real to him than traditional pornography, because the people being shot had no idea that they were being monitored by spy cameras.
How did the girlfriend react?
When Eric told this to his partner Emily, at first she did not believe it and thought he was joking. When she saw the video herself, she was afraid that people she knew might already have seen the footage online.
