Three criminals arrested with illegal weapons
Jagran correspondent, Chaibasa. West Singhbhum Police has arrested three criminals before they could commit a major criminal incident. Acting on the basis of secret information, the police have arrested three youths who were roaming with illegal weapons.
Two country-made pistols, one live cartridge, four mobile phones, Rs 7200 in cash and an Alto car have been recovered from them.
Special raid team formed
On December 13, the Superintendent of Police had received information that some criminals were roaming in Chaibasa area from Chakradharpur carrying illegal weapons in an Alto car and were planning a major crime. After the information, a special raid team was formed on the instructions of the Superintendent of Police.
The team stopped and searched the Alto car during vehicle checking near Sharda village of Muffasil police station area. The youth traveling in the car revealed their names as Saroj Bodra, Shyamlal Kerai and Sikandar Kerai.
Country made pistol and live bullet recovered
During the search, a country-made pistol and a live bullet were recovered from Saroj Bodra, while another country-made pistol was found in the trunk of the car. Techno company's mobile phone was recovered from Shyamlal Kerai.
The police asked for valid documents related to the weapons, but after not getting any satisfactory answer, all three were arrested. During interrogation, the accused admitted that on December 8, along with nine other associates, they had committed robbery of Rs 85 thousand from a businessman near Torlo Mor in Kumardungi police station area, in which firing was also done.
Mobile and Rs 1200 snatched from motorcycle rider
Apart from this, he also confessed to snatching a mobile phone and Rs 1200 from a motorcycle rider near Kyapata village of Muffasil police station area.
In connection with the recovered illegal weapons, a new case has been registered in Muffasil police station under relevant sections of Arms Act and BNS. Among the arrested accused, Shyamlal Kerai is also said to have a previous criminal history.
