Meerut school teacher Sudhanshu Shekhar Panda, Jammu and Kashmir teacher Mehraj Khurshid Malik and Rubal Nagi, who works in the field of education in slums and rural communities across the country, are contenders for this annual award.

The 10th edition of GEMS Education, a global competition organized by the UK-based Varkey Foundation in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), received over 5,000 nominations from 139 countries.
