Jagran correspondent, Sri Muktsar Sahib. Amidst the increasing incidents of theft in Giddarbaha area of Muktsar, Punjab, a shocking case has come to light from Sub Tehsil Doda. Here, three trees in the tehsil complex were cut down by unknown thieves overnight. Branches of many other trees were also cut, causing damage to government property. After the incident, questions have started being raised regarding the security arrangements in the area.
Naib Tehsildar Baljinder Kaur said that many trees were planted in the entire tehsil premises. During the night, unknown persons uprooted three trees and took them away. Only the roots are left at the spot. Apart from this, branches of other trees have also been cut. He said that this is a direct damage to government property and a complaint has been given to the police post Doda.

Case registered after complaint
Despite CCTV cameras installed in the Tehsil office, no clue of the thieves has been found. According to officials, there is a possibility that the thieves entered the premises from the back side, where there is no CCTV coverage. For this reason no footage of the incident surfaced.
Police post incharge Gurtej Singh said that the complaint has been received and the matter is being investigated. Inquiries are being conducted in the surrounding areas and further action will be taken based on the facts.

Cases of theft have come to light earlier also
It is noteworthy that earlier also incidents of theft of oil and copper from transformers installed in fields have come to light in Giddarbaha area. Now theft of trees from government premises raises serious questions on the security system. Other valuables are also present in the tehsil premises, due to which there is an atmosphere of concern among the officers and employees.
Due to continuous incidents, the feeling of anger and insecurity is increasing among the people of the area. Local residents have demanded the administration to increase patrolling and strengthen security arrangements, so that such incidents can be prevented in future.
