Digital Desk, New Delhi. Sindh nationalist leader Shafi Burfat has sharply criticized the 14-year prison sentence to General Faiz Hameed by a Pakistani military court. Terming it a 'military drama', he alleged that the punishment was a conspiracy to increase military influence and create political pressure, especially to intimidate leaders like Imran Khan.
Burfat said that the purpose of this punishment is not actually accountability, but to further strengthen the military's interference in politics. Referring to the 1971 Bengal massacre and rape case, he accused the Pakistan Army of never holding its top officers accountable.
Burfat exposed Pak army
Referring to cases of Pakistan's military involvement, Burfat questioned the role of the army in the judicial assassination of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the assassination of Benazir Bhutto and the assassination of Pakistan's first Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan.
Additionally, Burfat blamed Pakistan's military rule for the conflicts in Sindh, Balochistan and Afghanistan and alleged that the Pakistani army has become a 'weapon' for global powers.
