Traders Of Old Delhi United Against Illegal Encroachment, Will Take Out Protest March On 4th February

Representatives of business organizations met and decided to take out a protest march.

Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. The traders of the wholesale markets of Old Delhi, who are suffering due to illegal street vendors, encroachment and chaos, have taken to the streets and geared up for the movement. On Tuesday, representatives of business organizations of most of the wholesale markets met at the Delhi Hindustani Mercantile Association (DHMA) office in Chandni Chowk and decided to take out a protest march.

Also decided to express their protest in other ways in the coming days and convey their pain to the Delhi Government and the Central Government. This protest march will start from Bara Tooti Chowk of Sadar Bazar on 4th February. Which will also go to other wholesale markets. At present, the route of the protest march will be decided in a few days.

Officials of more than 50 business organizations of Old Delhi participated in the meeting. Who expressed serious concern over the problem of illegal street vendors and encroachment on roads, streets, footpaths and central verge. Due to which the business of wholesale markets of Old Delhi with about five lakh traders is being affected.

Delhi Trade Federation President Devraj Baweja said that business is coming to a standstill due to encroachment and shopkeepers who have been paying taxes for years are suffering huge financial losses. DHMA President Mukesh Sachdeva and General Secretary Shri Bhagwan Bansal said that pedestrians and customers are facing immense inconvenience and the movement of emergency services is also being disrupted.

Despite repeated complaints, only cosmetic action is taken by the concerned departments, due to which the situation returns to normal within a few hours. Representatives of other market organizations including Chandni Chowk, Dariba, Bhagirath Palace, Mori Gate, Chawri Bazaar, Naya Bazaar, Sadar Bazaar participated in this meeting.

Movement plan made in the meeting

If only symbolic action was taken by the concerned departments and permanent and strict steps were not taken against illegal encroachment, the traders unanimously decided to take out a peaceful protest march on February 4. The traders made it clear that if concrete action is not taken even after this, then the further strategy and decisions of the movement will be announced in the next phase.
