Tourist traffic in this area increases in winter.
Jagran correspondent, Srinagar. The weather is currently dry in the valley. The weather remained dry even on Saturday. However, in view of the possibility of snowfall in the upper areas and rain in the lower areas as predicted by the Meteorological Department, the authorities on Saturday imposed traffic restrictions on the Tangmarg-Gulmarg road to prevent the movement of heavy vehicles and vehicles without anti-skid chains to avoid accidents and traffic jams.
Officials said that this ban will come into effect immediately as soon as rain or snowfall starts and will remain in force until the weather conditions improve. He said that during bad weather, only vehicles with anti-skid chains will be allowed to ply on this route.
This decision has been taken by the concerned department in view of the possibility of snowfall and rain, which often makes the roads slippery and reduces visibility on the hilly road connecting Tangmarg to Gulmarg.
Officials said the move is aimed at ensuring public safety and smooth traffic flow, especially when tourist traffic in the region increases during winter.
Drivers and vehicle owners have been advised to strictly follow the advisory and avoid unnecessary travel during inclement weather. Officials warned that strict action would be taken against those violating the restrictions.
Officials urged passengers to cooperate with the administration and follow instructions issued by traffic and police personnel to prevent any untoward incident.
