Train travel in India to become expensive from December 26
Digital Desk, New Delhi. Train travel in India is going to become expensive from Friday, December 26. Indian Railways has increased fares across the country, the second hike in six months.
This will impact long distance passengers traveling in both AC and non-AC coaches of mail and express trains. The changed fare will also be applicable on busy rail routes like Delhi-Howrah and Delhi-Mumbai.
Lakhs of passengers will be affected by this. Railways is expected to get additional revenue of about Rs 600 crore from the fare increase.
Sleeper class: Increase of 1 paise per km
First Class (Ordinary): Increase of 1 paise per km
In Mail/Express (Non-AC) trains:
Second Class, Sleeper Class and First Class: Increase of 2 paise per km.
Impact of fare increase
The fare increase will also be applicable on other special trains including Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas, Humsafar, Amrit Bharat, Garib Rath, Jan Shatabdi, Antyodaya, Gatimaan, Yuva Express and Namo Bharat Rapid Rail.
